Prime Minister, Mr Kevin Rudd, has declared next Sunday 22nd February as a National Day of Mourning for the bushfire disaster in Victoria.
Gordon Devrell, Interim Senior Pastor at Glenbrook Baptist Church, said “This community of the Lower Blue Mountains knows what it is like to suffer loss and grief from bushfire and disaster, and feels a special affinity with the people who are suffering in Victoria”.
To provide members of the community of the Lower Blue Mountains with the opportunity to show their support and concern for the victims of the fires, a service of prayer and reflection will be held next Sunday 22nd February 2009 at 3.00pm at Glenbrook Baptist Church, 45 King Street, Glenbrook.
Pastor Devrell went on to say that all members of the community, of whatever faith or belief, are welcome to attend.
The service will be followed by a time for fellowship and light refreshments.
